Gema Rubio is a writer's assistand and coordinator of the committee at Discurso & Sociedad. She is a doctor in linguistic communication and multilingual mediation
at the University of Pompeu Fabra. Her doctoral thesis deals with the
discourse of the People’s Party about immigration subjects. After
graduating from English Philology at the Complutense University of
Madrid, she did a master’s degree in Language Studies at the University
of Lancaster, England.
Research
Her fields of research have to do with Critical Discourse
Analysis. Rubio is especially interested in political discourse due to
the possibilities that it has to spread around and determine public
opinion. Moreover, she is particularly interested in immigration,
discrimination and racism and the representations of these through
discourse.
