Viviane M.
Resende is
an associate professor at the University of Brasilia. She is a doctor
in linguistics (Language and society) at the same university. Resende
has conducted much doctoral research at the Federal University of Minas
Gerais and at the University of Pompeu Fabra.
She is a delegate at the Asociación Latinoamericana de Estudios del Discurso (ALED) in Brazil and belongs to the executive council of research 25 (RC25 – Language and Society) at Asociación Internacional de Sociología (ISA). Resende is a member of Red Latinoamericana de Análisis Crítico del Discurso y Pobreza (REDLAD) and coordinator of Núcleo de Estudos de Linguagem e Sociedade (NELiS) and of the laboratory of Estudos Criticos do Discurso (LabEC) at the University of Brasilia.
She has published many articles in several national and international journals such as Critical Discourse Studies, Discourse & Communication, Language, Discourse & Society, D.E.L.T.A., Alfa, Cadernos de Linguagem e Sociedade, Calidoscópio, Qualitative Research, Journal of Multicultural Discourses, Discourse & Society, Discourse & Sociedad, Linguagem em (Dis)Curso, etc.
She is the author of the following books: Critical Discourse Analysis: a qualitative research method (with Izabel Magalhães and André Martins, Brasília: editor of UnB, 2017), Critical Discourse Analysis: the text as research material (with Viviane Vieira, 2 ed. Campinas: Pontes, 2016), Critical Discourse Analysis and Critical Realism: interdisciplinary implications (Campinas: Pontes, 2009) and Critical Discourse Analysis (with Viviane Ramalho, 2 ed. São Paulo: Contexto, 2009). Recently, Resende has worked on books such as Outras perspectivas em análise de discurso crítica (Other perspectives in Critical Discourse Analysis) (with Jacqueline Regis, Campinas: Pontes, 2017), Diálogos sobre resistência (Dialogues on resistance) (with Rose Barboza, Campinas: Pontes, 2017) y Discurso y pobreza (Discourse and Poverty) with Carolina Araújo, Campinas: Pontes, 2018).
