Resumen
Este artigo faz parte de uma pesquisa interdisciplinar mais ampla que investiga questões de linguagem, identidade e gênero em diferentes contextos socioculturais, tendo como aparatos teórico-metodológicos a análise crítica do discurso e a linguística sistêmico-funcional, em consonância com outras áreas afins das Ciências Humanas e Sociais. O presente trabalho, situado nas áreas de Linguística Aplicada (com foco em questões relacionadas a linguagem, gênero e discurso) e Ciência da Administração (mais especificamente Estudos Organizacionais), faz um breve recorte dessa pesquisa mais ampla e investiga o papel das mulheres para o desenvolvimento sustentável no documento final da Rio+20, especificamente o capítulo Gender equality and the empowerment of women. A análise do documento evidenciou, pelo menos, duas questões centrais sobre a representação da mulher: (1) a mulher é o “outro” e (2) a mulher é representada como um ator social passivo.

Abstract
This article is part of a broader interdisciplinary study, which investigates issues related to language, identity and gender in different sociocultural contexts, based on theoretical and methodological contributions from critical discourse analysis and systemic functional linguistics, aligned with other related studies from the Humanities and Social Sciences. The present article, situated within Applied Linguistics (with a focus on language, gender and discourse) and Administrative Science (more specifically Organizational Studies) focuses on the role of women in sustainable development by analyzing the Rio+20 final report, more specifically the chapter entitled Gender equality and the empowerment of women. Our analysis revealed at least two central questions about the representation of women: (1) the woman is the " other" and (2) the woman is represented as a passive social actor.
